What is Mimecast?
We are now using Mimecast for email archiving. This means all emails being sent & received by SCC MPDS colleagues are automatically archived.
Using Mimecast, you will be able to easily access your email archive and manage blocked emails and senders.
How does it work?
Your email archive works as an extension of your regular mailbox. The capacity of your mailbox will remain the same and emails that you send and receive will continue to go into the same folders as they always have.
However, now when you delete emails (including out of your deleted items folder) they will remain accessible in the Mimecast archive.
Mimecast is currently automatically archiving all the emails you send and receive. This means that even if you delete an email you just received, you will still be able to access it from the Mimecast archive.
How do I access it?
Mimecast can be accessed in a number of ways:
Mimecast for outlook plugin
The easiest way to access Mimecast is by using the outlook plugin, this should be installed automatically on your PC. If you don’t have it installed please contact [email protected].
Once the software is installed, you should see a tab along the top menu titled Mimecast
From here you can access the ‘Online Inbox’ which opens the Mimecast for outlook panel. This panel is used just like the regular outlook interface and will display all your emails (even those that have been deleted).
From here you can also click ‘Managed Senders’ and ‘On Hold Messages’. These two options allow you to manage blocked and unblocked email addresses and view a list of emails that are ‘On hold’ and waiting for your approval (potential spam/phishing emails).
Mimecast Web Portal
If you need to access the archive but don’t have access to outlook, you can use the web portal.
The web portal functions just like the Mimecast for Outlook Panel. The link for the web portal is: https://m2.login-uk.mimecast.com
